Last week I interviewed Mathew Sterns aka The World’s Toughest Trainer and it was an absolute blast. Despite some technical difficulties on my end, an outdated router, slow upload speeds etc, we managed to capture a flowing conversation that yielded a lot of interesting stories.
We talked about creating aprons every month for 13 years straight, training for one of the world’s toughest endurance events and keeping a work life balance. Or not.
Good sports
Mathew is an athlete, artist and gets things done when he is not busy just being.
As this was my first interview I am immensely grateful that he was such a good sport about working out the hiccups of captureing this conversation and editing it so it has a pleasant flow. Thank you, Mathew!
Baby steps
Going into the interview I had been worried that I would not be able to keep my blabbermouth shut and let him tell his story, but he got to tell it alright as it turns out. We ended up loosing my audio on the recording of the call, so I had to fill in my questions from memory and kind of like a screenplay. that actually tightened it up by about 30 percent. Which tells you something about how much wiggling room there is for me to tie my tongue in the next interview and let my subject lean into their story.
